The Gold Wine Awards is a consumer judged competition that evaluates wines in the R100 or less per bottle price bracket, and awards the wines that are excellent value for money.
The Cape Wine Academy as logistical partner of Gold Wine Awards, put together the panel and selected consumers who are qualified tasters or Cape Wine Academy graduates.
Throughout the double blind-tasting, the tasters did not know the identity or price of the wine and the results of the tasting were statistically linked to the price of the wine to determine which wine was real value for money.
Overhex Wines International proved victorious with 10 gold medal awards across its two main brands. Balance Wines received gold medals for the Balance Classic Sauvignon Blanc Semillon; Balance Classic Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot; Balance Winemaker’s Selection Chenin Blanc; Balance Winemaker’s Selection Chardonnay; Balance Winemaker’s Selection Shiraz; Balance Winemaker’s Selection Pinot Noir; Balance Winemaker’s Selection Pinotage and Balance Winemaker’s Selection Merlot. Survivor Wines’ Offspring range red and white blends both received gold medals.
