If you think that the good wines of South Africa end at the Huguenot Tunnel, you would be forgiven. I would be kidding if I said otherwise; yet on a hot Wednesday afternoon, we crossed through the tunnel and found ourselves at Overhex Wines, in the town of Worcester.
Now, Overhex is not your typical ‘wine estate’. They buy grapes in from all over the Western Cape and are home to ‘Survivor Wines’ and ‘Balance Wines’, to name just two. Since its launch more than 10 years ago, Overhex has become a major player among South Africa’s new-generation wine companies. Both brands offer wine lovers extremely easy drinking wine, from a fresh Sauvignon Blanc to a beautiful Pinotage. With prices ranging from R40 a bottle to a mere R140 a bottle, which are available at Checkers* and Makro*, you can enjoy these wines anytime.
