Tanja Booysen and Ben Snyman of Survivor Wines recently joined the Wine Village Wine Club for an evening of wine tasting. What a surprise when they arrived with a fully stocked wine truck that served glasses of chilled Méthode Cap Classique.
Winemaker Ben Snyman introduced the wines and shared his extensive wine knowledge with the audience. He grew up in Durbanville close to a wine farm, studied at Stellenbosch University and joined Overhex in 2010 where he now spends most of his time in the vineyards and cellar outside Worcester, almost on the Robertson border. Overhex is the proud owner of a number of wine labels including two core brands – Balance and Survivor. Both depicting animals on their labels. Balance an elephant and Survivor a Nguni cow. Survivor is Ben’s Grand Crux brand that was conceptualised only two years ago. Age is relative as this young brand is already raking in the awards and distributed to 32 countries worldwide.
