When Overhex Wines International recently launched their new tasting room they did so with great aplomb. The event was celebrated at an Elvis Blue concert and the glittering occasion also saw the launch of the brand-new Survivor wine truck – a first in South Africa!
Situated at Overhex Winery & Bistro on the R60 between Worcester and Robertson, the attractive new tasting venue was designed by Johan and Michelle Strydom from JAM designs. Spacious and well-appointed, it is a worthy showcase for the award-winning Overhex wine ranges and offers a great winelands experience. The tasting room is open six days a week, Monday to Saturday, from 09h00 until 17h00 during the week and from 09h00 until 16h00 on Saturdays.
Proving once again that the Overhex team likes to do things a little differently is the tasting room’s new tasting menu which will be introduced on 1 December. Among the delectable combinations are the Balance Winemaker’s Selection range paired with olive products, the Balance Classic range paired with dried fruit and, wait for it … the Survivor range paired with ice cream!
Imagine for instance the crisp Survivor Chenin Blanc with its delightful medley of apricot and peach flavours paired with passion fruit ice cream; or the robust barrel-matured Survivor Cabernet Sauvignon with its lavish flavours of sweet fruit and chocolate accompanied by chocolate and thyme ice cream. Sensational! And of course, ideal for the hot summer months ahead.
Here are some of the exciting new tasting menu choices:
Survivor – Paired with Ice Cream – R60
Sauvignon Blanc – Lemon Sorbet
Chenin Blanc – Passion Fruit Ice Cream
Cabernet Sauvignon – Chocolate & Green Herb Ice Cream
Pinotage – Cherry Cinnamon Ice Cream
